October Meeting - AGM

Our October Chamber Meeting (Tuesday, 7th of October) will be our Annual General Meeting . The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.. The venue is the Chinese Restaurant in South Sydney Leagues Club, 265 Chalmers Street, Redfern. The AGM will be followed by a Chinese Banquet. The cost will be $25 per head.

Cigarette Vendors Beware!

The Central Sydney Area Health Service (CSAHS) advises us that they are targeting businesses in the inner city in an effort to enforce the laws that restrict the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products to people under 18 years of age.

A recent case brought in Newtown court resulted in a $1,000 fine for the cigarette vendor caught selling cigarettes to minors.

The message is clear. If you sell cigarettes and related products ALWAYS ask for proof of age.

Further details from Angela Georgiou, Communications Officer, CSAHS. Ph: 9515-3353.

Business Awards

The Chamber this year participated in the Wentworth Courier's Small Business Awards. Participating in Business Award programs are a great way to enhance the stature and quality of your business and enhance its profile in the community. This usually translates into increased profits as well.

As well as the Courier's Awards program, both Telstra and the GIO have Small Business Awards programs. For further information on these contact the Telstra Small Business Development Group and/or GIO Australia Rising Star Awards, PO Box 687, Darlinghurst 2010.
