MASTERCARD ADOPTS COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO CONSUMER PRIVACY (4/8/96)
"2. Abstract
This document specifies version 1 of the Private Communication Technology (PCT) protocol, a security
protocol that provides privacy over the Internet. Like Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the PCT protocol is
intended to prevent eavesdropping on communications in client/server applications, with servers always
being authenticated and clients being authenticated at the server's option. However, this protocol corrects
or improves on several weaknesses of SSL."
